Chapter Fifty Four: The Magical Twig's Recall
There was a vivid dream; it was happening inside the mind of a Reader.
Peaceful and calm at first, but then it shattered into pieces as it abruptly drops to the marble floor. It fell into the many portions of wood splinters. The broken dream left behind thousands of little twigs in disarray; it was a tragic sight for an intricate material that can only be found from an unidentified enchanted tree.
These extraordinary twigs remained magically attached to the dream despite the deliberate fall, of course; and then, she suddenly remembers a clear history from the back of her mind about a place that was the possible source of these twigs, and from where this magical forest once stood proud, mighty, powerful, and glorious.
It was a scene of a film.
There were many movies that got intercepted in her mind in retrospect as she was viewing this particular film from the Little Theatre of the Headquarters. She was tasked to produce a report about this particular frame as the Society was able to convince the majority of Legendary Spies that this popular film, which is about the greater resolve of heavenly clues and the functions of the Celestial government, was hiding cryptic messages from the main body of its screenplay.
The Plenary vote was very clear; the magical reels will never lie.
As she pushed the replay button for the thirtieth time, there was a particular detail that she finally noticed in the present scene. She immediately pushed the pause button and replayed that last part. It was unclear at first, confusing, despite the film was recorded in high definition, but then it dawned on her with certainty.
There was a maple leaf in the top middle of the frame that was caught by the filming camera. Could it be that the missing "magical tree" was actually a Maple Tree all along? Was it hiding in plain sight from the scrutiny of their presupposed mission?
She couldn't conclude for anything solid just yet. There was massive incompleteness surrounding the facts of the case. Encryption is a nasty business, even for the Society's supernatural standards. And because she cannot afford to commit any mistake as she tries to extract an accurate inference from the incomplete premises of the matter, there will be no actual motivation to submit a written report at this time.
She turned the silver screen off. Her eyes were tired, and she was extremely thirsty. The maple leaf might prove to be a crucial clue to the satisfaction of the Society later on, so it must be noted in the annotation of the archive.
She needed to drink water. The complete matter may be left for now.
