Chapter Fifty Nine: The Details of the Forbidden Fruit
"Where is it? Where is that film? You know exactly what I am talking about! It was lost in the reels of history, but you do remember where a restored copy of the movie was secretly hidden. Speak or you will suffer unimaginable pain!"
"I have no idea what you are talking about. Let me go, you are hurting me!"
"Do not lie to me. I know exactly what you did before the Historians could ever do something about that film. You were the last one to officially attach an annotation to the pages of its script. You have betrayed the United States Department of the Past, and unless you lead me straight to it, all traitors must be punished at once!"
"You are very deluded, sir. I know nothing about you or what exactly is your job for the government in a world full of peril where nobody can be trusted."
"Oh, you'll never get away from us, miss, no you cannot escape this entire operation. Historians have been called upon to serve the best interests of the country and you are still under oath as we speak when you signed this undertaking. Not even the protection of the divine can help you break an oath made on account of the Bible."
"I am not afraid of you, sir. I believe in the power of dreams and fantasies, and all the things surrounding the supernatural and the miraculous places that can be explored through the depths of the imagination. Our notions of reality are not the same. You are outright delusional but I am a dreamer."
"It is true that the Anti-Plagiarists were able to hide you in the nick of time while we are late too soon. However, metaphysically speaking, you are still existing in a common dimension, and you cannot hide inside this protective veil forever. We will soon be able to find out about the physical properties of this forbidden fruit, whether you like it or not. It will happen."
"There is no artificial intelligence that can completely control you unless you learned a certain form of Defiance where evil may cling to the most important substances of the soul. Once you have explored the depths of your own humanity, you do not need to suffer silently in this way."
"Your words make no sense. All Historians are perfected by the scientific order, and only fools will oppose its inherent forces."
"And what kind of power are you all seeking? Unraveling the mystery of life? And what will you do with this information? To be like God? What kind of goodness will you benefit from this shameless desecration of the revealed truth?"
"There is power in this life that is worth exploring, my dear. The forbidden fruit was a result of discernment that enabled the first human beings to test the limits of their existence by subjecting God to a challenge of authority. Your obedience is pure foolishness. You are the ones who are blinded!"
"I have nothing more to say to you. Leave my presence or I will use my Parchment paper against you, sir. You are a mere character of literature at this point to me, totally defenseless. Go. Now! Or you will suffer the excruciating consequences!"
"I will still get back to get you, miss. I promise you that. This is most certainly not going to be the last of the many encounters."
"Then go back to whomever sent you to me. I fear nobody, tell Satan my exact words."
