Chapter Twenty Three: The Signal From the Monster

He was quick with his projector sword as the urban legend monster tried to escape after attacking a woman just near the Brooklyn Bridge. The monster was in the process of extracting some power from the victim with so much force when it was found out; it was so thirsty on the soul-oxide juices, an invisible property that is typically present in the physiology of a woman.

"Where do you think you're going, huh?" the Legendary Spy asked with an obvious mockery. "You cannot escape from me just like that."

The monster retaliated by extending its frontal claws to attack his head while the Legendary Spy used his projector sword to counter the claws to prevent it from reaching his face.

"Now watch out you fool!" the Legendary Spy said as he jumped on the monster to pin it down to the ground. The monster then screamed in pain as the projector sword pierced the region of its chest where its power connection with the Sinister Agent is actually located.

The camera stick immediately glowed with bright orange as it gathered the necessary information to track the Sinister Agent that deployed this particular monster.

"Where are you headed? Why are you here?"

The urban legend character was physically exhausted with all the wounds inflicted to its body, and the projector sword that remains impaled in its already frail flesh is also consuming energy. Fortunately, it is still capable of speech, and tried its best to answer him.

"I was . . . I was just . . . hungry. Cannot . . . breathe but the . . . secret . . ."

"What secret? Who is your Sinister Agent?" the Legendary Spy demanded answers at once.

"Linusants . . ."

The monster said weakly, before it died. 

He was able to extract some electronic information from the body of the urban legend monster, probably enough to pin point the location of these Sinister Agents who were actively lurking the streets of New York City for over a month now.

This very simple patrolling situation of the Society has now become a serious matter of assignment as monsters were reportedly unleashed to crowded places in the City, which is very uncommon and illegal, if the urban legends will still honor the Voluntary Agreements that clarified the prophecy, which they have made between their two main causes.

Right now, the monsters were very mindful of its attacks that it is almost accurately flawed to the extent of stealth, which, according to the prophecy and the attached agreements that ensued, is not an illegal act but takes the form of a warning.

After he took care of the scene by deleting the memory of the Actors who saw the skirmish nearby the vicinity, he immediately went back to the Headquarters to decode the information gathered by his camera stick.
