Chapter Seven: The Hiding Place
The Anti-Plagiarist is on-duty together with his partner Legendary Spy, and in tonight's responsibilities, they are guarding the Eastern Gardens of the Society's Headquarters. More than the physical harms that require greater skill, those deployed to guard this section of the great edifice of the Society are considered to be the best ranking members that has been trusted through time with a bigger responsibility. It is held within the hierarchy of the Most Gallant Society that there was something "bad" that is hiding beneath this section of the beautiful Hall.
As much as it is dismissed merely as a baseless legend, some members are also quick to judge about the veracity of these ridiculous claims, mainly because the story sounded similar to the foretelling of an urban legend, with some members presupposing that this story was an exact example in itself of the same vicious articles that they were effectively fighting off from the conscious reality that they have sworn to protect.
But caution must be exercised at all times, so even this simple legend had to be taken seriously and with great care, in order to protect the Society from any secret anomaly that might present itself later on. As much as all relative information regarding this "bad" thing lurking beneath this place had to be verified and guarded "to the best efforts possible," the aesthetics of the Society Headquarters cradled in its "hiding place" in Lower Manhattan has been the quiet witness to all that there is, whether in truth or in fact, or nothing at all, or maybe just pure silliness.
It was as if the Hiding Place, as the Headquarters is colloquially referred to, has been there not only to give the Legendary Spies a House, but more often to serve as a monument to the never-ending pursuit of protecting the reality from the intrusive excursion of lies, deceit, dangers, and legends that kill, much to the satisfaction of the Writers of the Atrocities.
When the Society has evolved to be in its present state, the Legendary Spies were indispensible in maintaining the reality from the threats to life by giving its premise the immaculate meaning. To experience pain is to participate in life's inevitable unfolding. All roads that later on creates an eternal path towards enlightenment must first be cognizant of the affairs of life; there is simply no other way it must proceed.
When the two guards on-duty noticed someone approaching towards the Headquarters, totally aware of its location, they have given the required warning according to protocol. They have readied their weapon, in case the use of force will be necessary.
"Stop where you are!" the Legendary Spy by the name of Roald Litters shouted after his projector sword protruded from his camera stick. "You are entering prohibited premises!"
"Identify yourself! State your ability, if you possess any!" said Gregory Hind, the Anti-Plagiarist, following his partner's lead. His parchment paper is all set for the attack.
"Help me," the person weakly said.
And then he collapsed on the road.
